Through relentless advocacy, education, and direct action, we are making tangible changes in the lives of platform workers. Here is a snapshot of what we've achieved together.
In informal settlements like Kibra, thousands of invisible workers are the literal engines powering global AI. In our initial grassroots sensitization clinics, we discovered an alarming reality: workers are routinely trading highly sensitive biometric data — including their facial scans, iris scans and photos of their children — to train global AI models, without basic data privacy safeguards.
Most workers have never been informed of their digital rights. None of them knew they had the legal power to demand their data back.
Conducted targeted data literacy and sensitization clinics across Nairobi, transitioning gig drivers and AI labelers from a blind workforce into an informed collective.
Currently guiding platform workers through the physical execution of Subject Access Requests (SARs) to reclaim ownership of their personal data.
